The sad thing is Sony never tells you that most of the problems you encounter on your PS3 console is actually repairable by yourself. Calls to Sony hardly yield any results other than you forking over another $150 and them taking your PS3 for 6 weeks, formatting the hard drive or even sending you one with a new hard drive, thus making you lose your saved games (Ask anyone who has tried).
In fact, it looks like all their technicians have been trained to say just 5 words: "Please send back to us". And when you think of it, it makes sense as sending it in to Sony for repairs translates into more money for them. In fact, I have heard it said that they will even inform you that your warranty has been voided just to make you fork over the repair money.
When my PS3 developed the red light of death and yellow light of death on separate occasions, I called their hotline. After being kept on hold for over 30 minutes, a sony technician just said "please send it over to our nearest center". Well, I figured they built it and they could fix it. How wrong I was!
In spite of my doubts, I sent the console in with the hope that at least someone would be able to help fix the problem; after paying the $150 "consultation" -or was it diagnosing?- fee.
During my search, I found that the bloody thing can be repaired if you knew what to do. Better still, within an hour or so even if you have no prior experience.
If you're like me, when your pS3 crashes, the one thing you want to do is fix it, not find out what caused it. While I could go on and on about findng out what went wrong and what you need to do to find out how to fix ps3 red light of death or ps3 yellow light of death, I will instead give you access to what worked for me (that's better eh ;) ).
Now, I am not saying that this is the only working guide. But out of the many others that I purchased and tried out, this guide was the only one that got my ps3 fixed. It makes it much easier to fix your PS3 than just reading a tutorial, looking at pictures, or just attempting any of the many solutions posited online (which could actually worsen the console's problems).

Now, I am aware that there are a few free tutorials online. But please be warned that there are risks associated with using a free tutorial from the internet. QUICK UPDATE
I received this email from Brent Goldwyer a few days ago. He repaired his PS3 by using just the mentioned guide. Brent visited this site on the 8th of November or so, used the recommended guide and instructional videos, waited four whole days to see if the repairs were permanent and sent this testimonial in on the 12th of Nov (More than 4 days which is enough to prove that this works!). Hi Stan I took a chance and paid up,I was sceptical with all the scams out there. I followed the instructions to the tee and the PS3 is fixed, thanks.
